The x/twitter account of “Old Andrew,” posted criticism of me yesterday. Here is a response, posted here as I do not pay for a blue tick on the social network, so cannot post at length there, as he did. “Old Andrew’s” post is here (and at the bottom of this piece).
Commenting that it's "strange" to be replying to Andrew, because his Twitter account is supposedly "anonymous", shows the lack of seriousness in your reply, and that you know exactly which audience you're playing up to. You're both seeking to downplay his expertise by portraying him as some random anonymous person - he's been the subject of a Radio 4 profile - while criticising both him and Tom Bennett for blocking people on social media.
In my experience, those who are blocked by both are at best rude and aggressive and at worst far beyond that in terms of socially acceptable behaviour. Both Andrew and Tom are entirely open to rigorous debate, and there are many of us who have strongly disagreed with them without being blocked.
PROJECTION is a defence mechanism by which an individual "unconsciously"? attributes their behaviour, emotions, impulses, undesirable characteristics, and thoughts to others. 2 It is a way of taking our internal dialogue and turning it into an external exchange, as if our own beliefs or behaviorus belong to someone else.

Your "reporting" includes second-hand accusations; innuendo, and sometimes what seems to be conspiracy theory. Then the trolls move in on your target and bombard them with abuse and accusations about which you say nothing even though they go far beyond anything your reports could ever justify."
